Skincare Goal No. 2: Wear Sunscreen EVERYDAY!

I have probably said it a million times: you need to wear sunscreen each and every day to protect yourself from the sun AND further aging. It might be the best weapon we have against aging.

I am really good at wearing sunscreen in my moisturizer or makeup and in the summer. But adding an extra layer of sunscreen each and every day of the year? I am not to that point. I am 90% there and SO MUCH BETTER than I have been in the past. My goal for this year is to add an additional layer of sunscreen to my face and neck each and every day of the year. Four days in and so far so good!

You see, I had a few laser treatments last year and will be doing one or two more this year. I had some age spots lasered away with the non-invasive PicoSure® laser followed by full-face skin revitalization. The results have been amazing as far as pigmentation. My spots are gone and overall my skin tone is much more even. My fine lines have greatly lessened and the results should get better and better with more sessions. I am headed to Florida for the next six weeks or so and plan to have another session as soon as I get back.

In the meantime, I need to be extra vigilant about my sunscreen protection. My age spots and pigmentation are more apt to return if I am in the sun so it will be a big hat and physical sunblock for me. I have been long dependant on chemical sunscreens (the most widely used sunscreens) but I have been using some really effective, yet gentle physical sunscreens and blocks from Supergoop!. I don't think I can sing their praises enough.

I have fallen for most of the Supergoop! products that I have tried (which I will list below) but I have been using two Supergoop! products almost every day and my goal is two use at least one of these each and every day now. I like the Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen and City Sunscreen Serum.

Now, they are both totally different types of sunscreen with the Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen being a physical sunscreen that will add a total block of sunscreen. I like this one the best because I use this in addition to other products that I regularly use like a CC Cream (Supergoop! has a nice one!) or moisturizer that will already have a chemical sunscreen in it. I can also layer it with the City Sunscreen Serum, and I do that on days that I do not wear makeup.

Am I confusing you? Let me just break some products down, starting with my favorites.

Supergoop! Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40 - This is my favorite and the product that I need to wear the most. It is a physical, mineral sunscreen; it's one of those liquidy, white products. You only need a very small amount to completely cover the face and neck. It blends in well, does not leave any type of white cast or greasy-film to the skin. It does not interfere with makeup application.

Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum SPF 30 - This serum is unique. It contains chemical sunscreen products (what are most normally found in products) weaved into an anti-aging serum. This is a very lightweight serum; it is lightweight and milky. I like that this also blends into the skin right away and gives me a boost of moisture and free-radical protection with its ingredients.

Supergoop! Forever Young Body Butter SPF 40 - It is hard to weave sunscreen protection all-over the body into my routine but this whipped body butter makes it easy with its SPF 40. This absorbs fast but leaves my parched skin hydrated all day long.

Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35 - I wouldn't use this for every day (you know I have my favorite CC Cream already) but for days that I am out walking the Florida sun or going to the beach? YES! This CC Cream is definitely my pick. It offers a decent amount of coverage and it offers physical sunscreen coverage, which I prefer. I apply it with this brush for a nice finish.

Supergoop! Solar Power Sunscreen Mousse SPF 50 - This is going to be my go-to when I go to the beach or pool. It is super easy to apply and I like that it's SPF 50.

Supergoop! Shine On Lip Screen SPF 50 - I tend to forget my lips when I am out in the sun and this is not your average lip sunscreen protection. This comes in a brush-on applicator (LOVE) and so I can just brush it on over any lipcolor that I am already wearing and be protected. It is perfect for every day, especially when I will be outside so much in Florida. It adds a nice soft shine and it stays on!

After trying a few different physical sunscreen products and sunscreen products in general, it will be Supergoop! from now on for me! I hear they have a new product made to protect you from blue light, you know from sitting in front of a computer screen all day; I need to try that! Buy Supergoop! online at their website supergoop.com or at Sephora
