Laura Mercier Ultra-Blur Translucent Loose Setting Powder

I have been a longtime user of Laura Mercier’s original Loose Setting Powder. It was the second to last step in my makeup routine. For years I have finished my makeup routine with a very light dusting of the loose setting powder and then I spritz my face with makeup finishing spray.

I recently upgraded the original and best-selling setting powder to the new Ultra-Blur Talc-Free Translucent Loose Setting Powder and my makeup finishing routine has now changed β€” for the better!

Makeup Finishing Routine

The new Laura Mercier Ultra-Blur Talc-Free Translucent Loose Setting Powder is a game-changer in the makeup finishing routine. With 16 hours (or more) of wear and an ultra-blurring finish, this talc-free formula sets makeup like never before.

Laura Mercier Ultra-Blur Talc-Free Translucent Loose Setting Powder

For the first time, Laura made her iconic powder free from talc, but she did so without sacrificing any benefits. This translucent powder sets makeup for 16 hours of weightless wear with an ultra-blurring, soft-matte finish. Like the original, it is finely milled to deliver incredible staying power.

The powder is weightless and delivers a texture-free finish so skin looks and feels soft, smooth, and flawless from the second you put it on until you take it off. The powder blurs away the look of pores, fine lines, and any imperfections. It controls shine like no one’s business. With the perfect blend of ingredients including amino acids and hyaluronic acid, the powder is comfortable for all-day wear, even on the driest of skins.

Laura Mercier Ultra-Blur Talc-Free Translucent Loose Setting Powder comes in three shades that work for virtually all skin tones.

  • Translucent: Perfect for Fair to Medium Skin Tones.

  • Translucent Honey: Sets medium skin tones with olive and golden undertones.

  • Translucent Medium Deep: Ideal for medium-deep to deep skin tones.

I most often use the translucent shade, but when I have been going barefaced with my deeper self-tan, I do dust on the Translucent Medium Deep shade. It is much deeper than I thought, so I make sure to swirl a bit of the powder in the cap and then dust a bit of it in a tissue before applying it to my face.

Spring 2015: Laura Mercier Watercolour Clouds Collection.

For spring, Laura Mercier has created a stunning collection called Watercolour Clouds. She created this collection around the exploration and expression of moods and the mood for spring is quiet and relaxed. Laura said that she hopes that the soft, muted and peaceful shades in the collection bring you calm, serenity and balance. It is fresh, with a flush or watercolour color -- just like a pastel painting, and it is breathtaking.

National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. I know there a many "awareness months" during the year, and I tend to ignore many of them because they get a lot of national attention. But this one is important to me, especially the more that I learn about it and I feel it is important to share the facts and the brands that are supporting it - as in 100%.

National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Ribbon

Ovarian Cancer is named the silent killer for a reason; it has symptoms that are often mistaken for ordinary gastrointestinal symptoms. Things like bloating, gas, feeling full quickly, abdominal or pelvic pain and the need to urinate more frequently. Often women think they have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and just dismiss it for a while. The thing is, these symptoms aren't that bad, but they persist and don't go away. If you have these symptoms that last for two weeks or more, you need to see your Gynecologist. Yes, your Gynecologist. And the sooner the better. You should not let these symptoms go; you should not have them for more than a few weeks - that is not normal. Your doctor will perform a screening for Ovarian Cancer which includes a pelvic exam, pelvic ultrasound and CA 125 blood test because there is not just one test that can diagnosis Ovarian Cancer. In fact, Ovarian Cancer usually cannot be fully diagnosed until after surgery - it is that difficult to diagnose. Usually, by the time a woman goes to the doctor and if it turns out to be Ovarian Cancer, it is an advanced stage of Ovarian Cancer, which is so scary, right? That is why I want to make every woman I know, aware of these simple, easy to miss symptoms. Again, the symptoms to be aware of:

  • persistent bloating
  • gas
  • difficulty eating/feeling full quickly
  • abdominal or pelvic pain
  • constipation
  • the need to urinate more frequently

I am painting my toes teal for the month of September to call attention to the fact it is the month of Ovarian Cancer Awareness. I am starting with essie Naughty Nautical and I am also looking into brands that may be supporting the cause. If you know of any, please let me know.
