The Easiest Valentine's Day Manicure
/Ever since the global pandemic hit about a year ago, I haven’t been going into the nail salon every two weeks as I have for years. It pains me that I am not able to support one of my favorite local businesses, but I just don’t feel safe sharing polishes and other manicure tools at the moment.
While I have found joy in doing my own nails, it does take a long time to create the perfect polished manicure; I’m no pro. I recently discovered all that is Color Street nail polish strips. Using strips (also known as nail polish stickers) made of real nail polish could not be any easier.
I am obsessed with the selection of shades, nail art, and GLITTER designs that Color Street offers. I created the easiest Valentine’s Day manicure using two sets from Color Streets’ limited edition Valentine’s Day Collection.
To create this pretty Valentine’s Day manicure, I used strips from the Love Letter set with one red glitter from the Heart of the Matter set. I used the red glitter on my pointer fingers as an accent nail.
It really is easy to apply and remove the Color Street nail polish strips, simply following the directions that accompany each set.
After I prep my nails by filing, shaping, and pushing back my cuticles, I use the special prep pad that comes with each kit to wipe each nail clean.
Now, it is time to select the size to match up with your nail size. I always go with a size a bit larger than I think. The nail strips do stretch out over the nail a bit, but when aligning with your nail bed or cuticle, you must realize that this area is more narrow than the widest part of your nail. Once the proper size is selected, I break it apart from the other strips and gently remove the clear protective film. Now, I apply the strip to my nail. Keeping the silver edge to the top of the nail, I align the bottom edge at the base of my cuticle being sure not to get too close, and start applying. As I mentioned, the strip stretched, but you need to be gentle. Gently stretch the strip horizontally to make the strip fit the width of the nail and gently stretch the strip vertically to make the strip fit more narrowly. I like to hold the strip in the middle and apply pressure, smoothing it out over my nail as I apply. I then “fold” the free edge over my nail and use the enclosed file to file the excess strip off. Voila - done. It is that easy.
I am able to get the Color Street nail strips to last at least two weeks, but I am pretty gentle on my nails. To remove, use regular nail polish and a cotton pad.
