Getting Glam for the Olympic Winter Games.

P&G Olympics

I am so excited that the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games officially kick off tonight. I have been such a fan of the Olympic Games for as long as I can remember. It is a pretty big deal for everyone in my house too. My family gathers nightly in front of the television to watch our favorite athletes compete with the best from around the world. I will never forget the day after Dorothy Hamill won the gold medal in 1976; I went and got my hair cut just like hers. I think half of the country did too!

I may be just a bit more excited this year as I am the P&G Olympic Games Beauty Correspondent! What that means is that I am going to be watching the games and talking a lot about the beauty trends I see on the athletes over the next few weeks. I'll be bringing you the trends here on the blog, on Facebook and be talking a lot over on Twitter. I'll be starting it all off tonight as I am hosting a big viewing party at my house (I told you we love the Olympic Games) and online during The Opening Ceremony so make sure you are following me @BeautyBlogger. I hope you'll join me if you're watching and tweet along with #SochiGlam.

Getting Glam for the Olympic Winter Games

I cannot imagine the pressure the athletes are under to perform at the levels that they do and the way they do it with with style, grace and beauty astound me. I thought it would be fun to think how an athlete might prepare in her beauty routine to get ready and get glam for the winter Olympics. Whether creating an everyday look or preparing for a podium moment, P&G's beauty brands help athletes to look and feel beautiful and powerful.

I would want my teeth to look their whitest and brightest because I would be smiling big when receiving my medal. I would start using Crest 3D White Whitestrips Professional Effects a few weeks before the Winter Games. These Whitestrips boast the same enamel-safe ingredients that dentists use to ensure you’re always camera-ready. They are super easy to use too. I simply peel the strips off, apply, and go about my business for 30 minutes before removing and then brushing my teeth. In just using once a day, full results are achieved in 20 days, but teeth are noticeably whiter after three days.

Of course I would want my hair color looking its best for every competition, so I would use my favorite at-home hair color Clairol Nice ‘n Easy or the newest Clairol Color called Age Defy. Both offer customized options for beautiful hair.

Nice ‘n Easy provides an easy way to color your hair or update your look. Hair color is never flat when using it either because the formula is made so that your hairs natural tones and highlights come through. This makes the look as natural as possible. It also includes a conditioner that keeps color looking great for up to six weeks. I use Natural Medium Golden Blonde, but there are 40 shades available from Extra Light Neutral Blonde to Natural Blue Black so there is the perfect shade for everyone.

Age Defy is Clairol’s most advanced color formula that goes beyond 100% gray coverage, providing long-lasting, brilliant color that will make your hair look 10 years younger. You know how hard it is to cover stubborn gray hair? Age Defy solves that problem because it comes with a pretreatment texturizing cream that softens hair before coloring, making it easier to get colorant through hair. Then the crème color formula gets deep into the hair fiber for the best gray coverage. To lock in color and keep hair soft and shiny, this comes with Pro-V™ ColorSeal conditioning therapy to round out the package. Age Defy comes in 12 easy to match shades.

Finally, I would want my nails to look their very for their moment in the spotlight holding the medal. I would use COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss for sure. This polish features a built-in topcoat so nails stay beautiful, shiny and chip-free for up to one week. The only problem I would have is deciding what color or colors to wear. Would you show your Olympic team spirit and go with Red, White and Blue or would you go with medal worthy nails and go with Bronze, Silver or Gold?

COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss Olympic color suggestions:

  • Red - Ever Reddy
  • White - Snow Storm
  • Blue - Out of the Blue
  • Bronze - Perfect Penny
  • Silver - Bronze Beauty
  • Gold - Golden Opportunity

All of the products mentioned can be found at your favorite drugstore or mass retailer.
