Boost Your Blonde with Clairol Shimmer Lights.

Being a not-so-natural blonde takes a lot of maintenance. If you are like me and lighten your hair, you know that the struggle is real! Blonde hair and highlights take work in between appointments. Blonde hair can dull, fade, turn brassy and if you go in the pool or use the wrong products, it can even turn shades of green or orange. I've been using just one product that is helping me boost my blonde (or refresh it) by using it just one or twice a week.

How to Boost Your Blonde Hair

I've simply been replacing my normal shampoo with Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo once or twice a week to refresh my blonde hair while enhancing my highlights. The formulation is specially colored to balance pigment and to help condition and add much-needed moisture, vibrancy and luminosity to my color-treated hair.

The shampoo is violet colored so don't let that shock you, but that's how it works. It's gentle, but only designed to be used once or twice a week or it can discolor your hair. I use it once a week in the winter, but twice a week in the summer when I'm in the sun more and it's subject to turning too brassy.

Clairol Shimmer Lights is not only great for blondes, it is made for gray hair too. The formula is made to do so much:

  • tone down brassiness
  • renew and refresh faded highlights and ash-tones
  • reduce the visible green shade which can be deposited on blonde hair by excessive amounts of chlorine
  • remove dull yellow from gray/white hair
  • leave hair shiny without residue

Look for Clairol Shimmer Lights at professional beauty supply stores like Sally Beauty Supply. It comes in two sizes, 8oz and 16oz starting around $6.

Christina Hendricks for Clairol Nice 'n Easy.

It's no secret that I am a huge fan of Clairol Nice 'n Easy. I have tried so many other at-home hair colors and none have been as consistent or offered as natural results that Clairol Nice 'n Easy does. It really is the best! Clairol Nice 'n Easy just announced that they have a new celeb Hair Color Ambassador and it is no other than the beautiful Christina Hendricks. With her beautiful vibrant red hair, I could not think of a more perfect fit for the brand!

P&G Olympics

I am so excited that the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games officially kick off tonight. I have been such a fan of the Olympic Games for as long as I can remember. It is a pretty big deal for everyone in my house too. My family gathers nightly in front of the television to watch our favorite athletes compete with the best from around the world. I will never forget the day after Dorothy Hamill won the gold medal in 1976; I went and got my hair cut just like hers. I think half of the country did too!

I may be just a bit more excited this year as I am the P&G Olympic Games Beauty Correspondent! What that means is that I am going to be watching the games and talking a lot about the beauty trends I see on the athletes over the next few weeks. I'll be bringing you the trends here on the blog, on Facebook and be talking a lot over on Twitter. I'll be starting it all off tonight as I am hosting a big viewing party at my house (I told you we love the Olympic Games) and online during The Opening Ceremony so make sure you are following me @BeautyBlogger. I hope you'll join me if you're watching and tweet along with #SochiGlam.
