Makeup Wars: My Halloween Manicure.

This week, us ladies from Makeup Wars are taking on the challenge of creating a Halloween Manicure. I have to say that I was super excited about this post because I am a huge fan of nail art. Sadly, I am nail art challenged. Well, honestly, I am nail polish challenged. I haven't been able to give myself a decent manicure for years. Thank goodness for Gina who has been doing my nails for longer than I can remember so I don't have to leave the house without beautiful looking nails. So what's a nail challenged girl to do? She, meaning me, finds some great nail polish strips.

Now these are not just any nail strips; these are pre-designed Halloween nail polish strips that have me sporting the latest Halloween nail designs. These are the How Corny Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips. They are definitely my favorite out of this years Halloween designs.

I like the silver glitter polish with yellow, orange and white candy corns.

What is so great about the nail polish strips is that they are so easy to use. They apply in a few simple steps and there is no dry time at all. You get everything you need to apply the nail strips in the little "kit". You get 16 Nail Polish Strips, a cuticle stick and a mini nail file and buffer.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Halloween Nail Strips

To use the strips you first need a clean dry nail that is lightly buffed with the white side of the file. Then you follow the easy instructions:

  • Select the best fitting strip for each nail.
  • Remove the clear protective plastic cover.
  • Peel the nail polish strip from the backing paper.
  • Choose the side of the strip that best fits the shape of your cuticles. (I usually select the side opposite of the gray tab)
  • Place the strip against the cuticle line, holding the strip in the center.
  • Press the entire strip to the nail by gently stretching it for a perfect fit.
  • Smooth it out with another finger.
  • Gently file away the excess nail strip that overlaps outside of the nail.

To remove the nail strip, you simply use a normal nail polish remover as you would to remove regular nail polish.

The other designs I have are the Numbskull design, the Batty For You design, and the Patch-O-Lanterns, but I like the look of the candy corn designed How Corny designs the best.

These are really cute. They look more natural and beige in the box but more silvery in color on you. I'm going with one of the decals myself. I like the skull and bones!
those are adorable! I used patch-o-lanterns for mine. Sally hansen is always saving my butt!
All the designs are so cute! The candy corn looks great on you & the ring was a cute touch!
Ohh, I didn't realize the Candy Corn ones were silvery. I thought they were just white. These are really cute and I love the ring, too!
I almost purchased this candy corn one the other day! I am a bit obcessed with Candy Corns. Looks cute!
I think I'm going to do the the skull & bones strips next week, JooCheng.
The Sally Hansen nail polish strips are amazing, Brooke! Thank goodness for them.
Thanks Nancy. With no Halloween celebrations here last year, I have so many goody bag items left over. I had to wear the "corny" ring.
Pauls - I thought they were nude with candy corns. They never looked silvery until I put them on.
Pammy - it's hard not to be obsessed with candy corn this time of year. Though, I have to day I've been so good and haven't even popped one in my mouth.
You make it look so easy. I tried ones by Kiss and I couldn't get them smooth. Plus yours is cuter. Oh well there's always Christmas!
Your nails are making me hungry!
Marcia - it takes time and patience to practice. I've used them before, so it was easy.
Ha, ha Christa!
These are really cute. I hope they have some left because I want to try. It sounds too easy.
They are really easy to use Brooke. Read the directions first and do a practice nail or two. Once you have done a few, you will find each one easier and easier.
Those are cute!!!!
OMG! Those candy corn look so cute!!! I love how they look on your beautiful nails. I'm jealous! Plus your application of these are perfect. I can't seem to get these nail stickers on without folds or bubbles. Awesome manicure!
Thanks Carleen! Glad you like them.
Ha, ha, thanks Pink Sith! I've never had a problem with them bubbling or folding at all. I apply them really slow and stretch the decal, if that makes sense.
