Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil.

DateApril 11, 2008 | written by AuthorTeri Cosenzi, Editor | Comment5 Comments | Share ArticleShare This

I was so excited to find Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Beauty Oil in my hotel room last week. I so wanted to try it. And with the amount of makeup I was applying over and over it should have been the perfect time to try it.

I pulled out the giant bottle of green oil and tested a bit on my hand. It smelled nice and glided over my hands. It did not feel overly oily like an olive oil cleanser. I was ready to give it  a try. When placing the box down, I noticed in big bold letters the two words my face does not like to see or hear: Mineral Oil.

I rarely break out from anything at all. But when I have had a breakout or two, I always notice that Mineral Oil was in the said product used and thus concluded that my face does not like it.  I could not use this. Well, not on my face anyway.

I will tell you how I am using this oil and it has done wonders for me. I squirt out one pump and rub it on my hands. The backs of my hands, the palms, my cuticles, under my nails. Within seconds it is absorbed and my skin so smoothe and looking much younger than they really are. Next time I bathe my feet, I plan to use Cleansing Beauty Oil on my feet.

I love to find different uses for beauty products, especially when I thought I would have to write off such a beauty.

Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/O is a "premium, anti-aging and antioxidant skin purifier that thoroughly cleanses the skin while protecting it against the internal and external aggressions associated with aging. Contains catechin, an element of green tea extract that provides skin with antioxidant protection."

Look for this Cleansing Oil and other Shu goodness at ShuUemura.com, Nordstrom.com, Sephora.com,  and soon at Space.NK.

My skin usually does not like oil (b/c I do have oily skin, and I will get breakouts), but these oil cleansers are amazing. They are so cleansing. You apply dry to your face and then rinse off. I don't use the Shu b/c it's $$$ - I started with DHC and then switched to Origins. The Origins bottle is prettier and has a slightly nicer scent (though it's not really scented); but I've gone back to DHC because I think it works better. My friend says she also prefers it to the Shu.

Also - it will take off absolutely any kind of stubborn eye makeup.

I also love DHC's Deep Cleaning Oil. I checked, and it does not list mineral oil in the ingredients.

I have been wanting to try this product for months! Mineral Oil as a main ingredient would scare me off as well, but I have heard such great things about this product. Have you tried any of Laura Mercier's cleansing oils?

Sounds absolutely lovely! I would definitely love to check this out, especially to use on my hands as you have been -- winter was not kind to them! :)

I am quite enjoying Dermalogica's Precleanse oil. It's really good for removing foundation.
