Have you ever found yourself trying to find the perfect shade of foundation and you think you've found it... only to find that it's just a teensy bit off? I think it has happened to use at some point or the other.

It seems like when a beauty brand does a foundation launch they release 5, 10, 12, 15 or 20 shades of foundation. Well, we don't come in 5, 10, 12, 15 or 20 shades of color. We need more. Taking a cue from brands like MAKE UP FOR EVER and Fenty Beauty, COVERGIRL just launched 40 shades of foundation! Can you say YASSSSSSS?

Review: COVERGIRL TruBlend Matte Made Foundation

COVERGIRL is the first brand at mass to do such a major launch; they wanted TruBlend Matte Made Foundation to be totally inclusive and be wearable across all skin tones. THIS IS HUGE! COVERGIRL set out to create TruBlend Matte Made Foundation with ALL of us in mind. They listened to US!

Not only is TruBlend Matte Made Foundation inclusive of 40 shades, this innovative foundation minimized pores, controls shines and most importantly feels comfortable on the skin. Did I mention is is long lasting? It stays put for up to 12 hours.

The formula is oil-free, so it won't add on extra shine if you deal with that already. It is transfer-resistant, so no worrying about this foundation rubbing off on your fave white tee — or his. It really evens out your skin with its pore minimizing capabilities. And it never feels dry or cakey.

I have worn TruBlend Matte Made Foundation a few times. I can say that it definitely lasts on me, with very little oxidation (breakdown). Now, my skin is very dry and matte foundations don't tend to leave my skin whatsoever, and this had great coverage and looked flawless from the second I applied it. My pores were invisible and it felt lightweight. I did not cake or crease in lines, and it looked more natural as the day went on.

I applied TruBlend Matte Made Foundation over my regular makeup setting spray and over each of the new TruBlend Skin Primer Bases (more on those below). I don't think I've applied foundation on bare skin without some sort of primer in years (why would you) so I can't speak to how this performs without primer.

I really like it with my regular makeup setting spray or over the Skin Smoothing primer.

So, let's get to the 40 shades. They are pretty easy to navigate.

Each shade in the TruBlend Matte Made Foundation is broken down into one of four shade ranges, numbered from light to deep: Light (L), Medium (M, Tan (T), and Deep (D). Then there are warm, cool and neutral undertones call-outs in each name so that you can find your perfect match from there.

I found my perfect match in shade M30; it is very similar to M60 which I will probably use when I am using self-tanner.

When trying to find your perfect shade, swatch along your jawline, drawing a vertical line of foundation covering your neck and cheek. When you can't see the line, you have found your perfect shade.

Now onto the new primers. COVERGIRL had launched four new primers to go along with the new TruBlend Matte Made Foundation. The new primers, TruBlend Skin Primer Base, is also part of the permanent collection.

There are four primers: Skin Smoothing, Color Neutralizing, Pore Minimizing, and Illuminating. Each primer pretty much does as they say in their title.

As I mentioned, I really like the Skin Smoothing primer for its skin smoothing capabilities. With just a small amount of the primer, my skin was visibly smoothed, with my fine lines reduces. My skin was primed and perfected, as the perfect canvas and ready for foundation.
